ROMA BRANGUS SALE AVERAGES INCREASE ON 2021 OUTING
The Brangus breed achieved an event record at the annual Roma Brangus Sale.
Hitting a record high of $64,000, male averages improved by $1200 per head over the previous year's result. In all 80 bulls averaged $12,213 on the way to a 91 per cent clearance of the male offering.
There was a total clearance of 14 heifers that averaged $5392, an increase of $1115 over the same period to sell to a high of $9500.
Buyers from three states took home cattle with clearance levels in the male section of the catalogue sliding by six per cent.
Setting the new benchmark at $64,000 was the 24-month-old, Gunnadoo Park Mate offered by Jeff Parker, Gunnadoo Park stud, Manilla, New South Wales. Weighing 888 kilograms, 18mm and 11mm in the P8 and rib fat, 142sq cm eye muscle area and 6.7pc in the intramuscular fat, Mate, by Gunnadoo Park Famous was purchased by Edward and Kara Quinn and family, Voewood stud, Calliope.
Four bulls sold for $30,000. First of these was Bonox 1344 catalogued by Bruce and Leanne Woodard, Bonox stud, Taroom. Weighing 832 kilograms, 10mm and 7mm in the P8 and rib fat, 145 sq cm eye muscle area and 5.0pc in the intramuscular fat the 34-month-old sold to Rodney and Karen Johannesen, Folkslee stud, Brooweena.
Maidenwell breeders, Shane and Linet Pincott, Pineview stud sold their 24-month entry, Pineview Emerald (Bonox 1089), weighing 624 kilograms, 9mm and 6mm in the P8 and rib fat, 126 sq cm eye muscle area and 4.3pc in the intramuscular fat to Gavin McKenzie, Tannyfoil stud, Blackwater.
Four from the Pineview prefix averaged $15,000.
Henry Sinnamon, Kulkyne stud, Jackson scored a double at that figure with his first entry, Rambo R44, an 861kilogram entry with a 10mm and 7mm in the P8 and rib fat, 141 sq cm eye muscle area son of Bonox 900 selling to Edward and Kara Quinn and family, Voewood stud, Calliope.
His other to make that figure was R28 (triple B Lawman L572 (AI) (ET) an 808kilogram entry with a 10mm and 7mm in the P8 and rib fat, 134sq cm eye muscle area and 5.0pc in the intramuscular fat going to Trevor and Colleen Jorgensen's, Belview stud, Delungra, New South Wales.
Seven from Kulkyne averaged $17,000.
Next best at $26,000 was Forest Hills Immanuel 1821 catalogue by Michael and Kellie Silvester, Forest Hills stud, Capella. Purchasing the 21-month-old 802-kilogram entry with a 15mm and 11mm in the P8 and rib fat, 126 sq cm eye muscle area sired by Lazy S FFS was Ian and Anne Galloway, Duarran stud, Roma.
Bonox B1415 catalogued by Bruce and Leanne Woodard and family, Bonox stud, Taroom was the top selling heifer. The yearling granddaughter of Bonox 830 sold to N Bar stud Banana operated by the Lamb family.
A pair from Bonox set a $8250 average that included the second top for that section, a $7000 Bonox 1249 daughter. Another of the yearling heifer involved in the sale she was purchased by the Kingsley and McKinnon families, Lismore, New South Wales.
Ian and Anne Galloway, Duarran stud, Roma also invested in the $22,000 Kulkyne President a 23-month-old, 793kilogram entry offered by Henry Sinnamon, Kulkyne stud, Jackson.
Top selling herd bull was sold by Bill and Janette Cook, Karingal stud, Monto. Their 22-month-old, 785-kilogram entry with a 17mm and 11mm in the P8 and rib fat, 128 sq cm eye muscle area sired by Miltopp 02 sold to the Willowburn Partnership, Tenterfield, New South Wales for $14,000.
Six herd bulls within the offering averaged $7000.
Shane and Angela Jackson, Sandy Banks stud, Tiaro averaged $14,000 for their trio of bulls topping at $18,000 for a 33-month-old by Bindaree 092 selling to the Brown family, M1B stud, Wowan.
