Dear ABCA Members,
The Australian Brangus Cattle Association Board of Directors in consultation with ABRI have been investigating opportunities to streamline the services provided by ABRI with an intention to reduce operational costs and provide savings to the Australian Brangus Cattle Association.
As a result of these discussions changes to the staffing arrangements in the ABCA office have taken place effective immediately.
Tessa Pearson who has been employed as Registrar for the ABCA during the past 12 months has been elevated to the position of Executive Officer replacing John Thomas. This engagement will now see a dedicated Brangus Executive Officer working full time for the membership.
Before joining the ABCA team Tessa has had various roles at other Breed societies including Hereford, Limousin as well as ABRI. She has worked in the industry for just over nine years with a diverse set of skills that will enhance the Brangus office.
Tessa has a Bachelor of Agribusiness from the University of New England and resides on a property on the outskirts of Armidale with her husband, where they continue to run Merino sheep and commercial cattle.
The new full-time Executive Officer role will allow Tessa to continue with her current responsibilities, whilst also devoting time to upgrading the efficiencies of the office, facilitating Brangus development in Genomics and our online capabilities.
Tessa has a passion for genomics and the breed’s Youth and is excited to see the ABCA progress in these areas, as well as assisting ABCA committees with the growth of the Rockhampton & Roma Sales and the Carcase Competition. She has also helped facilitate the transition to the ABCA’s new website and produces social media content for the breed.
The Australian Brangus Cattle Association Board of Directors would like to thank John Thomas for all the hard work and dedication he has given to Brangus during the last 2 years. And would like to wish John all the best as he continues in his other roles at ABRI.
Kind Regards,
Mark Beckman
President ABCA
