ABCA Youth (and Full) members under the age 25 in the Australian Brangus Cattle Association are encouraged to apply for the annual Burnham Youth Award.
The Burnham Youth Award seeks to recognise the positive contribution of young Brangus breeders towards the development and promotion of the Brangus breed in Australia.
This award was first instigated in 1998, by long-time Brangus breeders Bruce and Barbara Burnham, for whom the trophy is named. Bruce is a founding member of the ABCA (Bimbadeen Brangus, stud number 9) and a former President, with Barbara giving many years of service in promotion of Brangus and also serving on the ABCA Board (including as Vice-President).
To apply yourself, or nominate a youth member, simply submit an application detailing the nominee’s Brangus involvement, agricultural aspirations and details of any success in the beef industry.
Winners of this long-term award will receive a personal trophy, $1000 and have their name engraved on the perpetual trophy. They will also be offered judging and industry development opportunities. The award is presented annually at the ABCA Annual General Meeting in Rockhampton.
