“In an effort to raise money for the upcoming 6th Brangus World Congress, we asked members to dig deep into their semen tanks and donate semen from exceptional, rare and promising Brangus Sires,” commented Ms Austin. “We received an outstanding response from members and the success of the sale has exceeded our expectations. All proceeds from the sale will be donated to the 6th World Brangus Congress”.

A total of 130 straws from 14 individual Brangus Sires were offered in lots of 5 to 10 straws. The equal top priced lots of the sale were lot 11 a black Brangus bull, Tarcoola 997 donated by Kajarabie Brangus Stud and sold to Earlwood Brangus stud for $200/straw and lot 10 a black Brangus bull, Brinks Sundance 541R264 donated by Telpara Hills Brangus Stud and sold to Jeff Holzwart also for $200/straw.

The second top price lot was lot 1 a black Brangus bull, Bonox 330 donated by Bonox Brangus Stud and purchased by Fourmile Brangus Stud for $170/straw.

Equal top priced lots from red Brangus bulls were lot 7 Redline Beaumont donated by Redline and Chadwick Downs Brangus Studs purchased by Eureka Park Brangus Stud for $60/straw and lot 9 Lazy 3 Statesman 100S donated by Telpara Hills Brangus stud and purchased by Coal Dust Brangus stud also for $60/straw. 

“On behalf of the Association I would like to thank all the donating members for their support and for offering semen from some exceptional Brangus Sires,” said Ms. Austin. “I’d also like to thank the bidders and under bidders for digging deep into their pockets and making this sale such a success and  Elders Rockhampton for donating their time to act as selling agents for the sale.”

Donating Brangus studs included, Bonox, Castle, Karingal, Elara, Boonderoo, Redline, Chadwick Downs, Telpara Hills, Kajarabie, Valley View, Jay-Eff and Bimbadeen. 

The 6th World Brangus Congress will be held in conjunction with Beef Australia 2012 in Rockhampton from the 7th to 12th May 2012.
